Faisal Imam is the founding Group Managing Monument.
He has overall responsibility for deal origination, new ventures, fund raising, and the development and exit of investments made by the Group in private and public companies.
Faisal holds an MBA from the University of Wales (Cardiff), a BSc in Accountancy from University of Maiduguri (Nigeria) and a postgraduate diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing in England and Wales (DipM).
Zin Bekkali is the CEO and founder of Silk Invest, a specialist fund manager focused on frontier markets in Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Silk Invest is one of the leading frontier markets managers with staff from over 10 different frontier markets and it manages a range of products including an African private equity fund and pan-African equity fund. Before creating Silk Invest, Zin worked for ING Investment Management, Bain, Ahold and Fortis Investments. Zin has a M.Sc. in applied Econometrics from the University of Amsterdam, has completed his MBA at London Business School and is CFA Charter holder.
Femi Sunmonu is a Partner at Aliant® – an international law practice and doubly serves as head of the Africa Practice. Prior to his co-founding Aliant®, he was practice leader at the Nigerian firm Femi Sunmonu & Associates\Qais Conrad Laureate. Starting out as a legal practitioner in Kano, Nigeria, he has garnered experience in privatization and regulatory reform programs, telecoms, construction and real estate, manufacturing, oil and gas and financial services. Femi graduated from the Obafemi Awolowo University at Ile-Ife Nigeria, is admitted to the Roll of the Supreme Court of Nigeria both as a legal practitioner and as a Notary Public. Femi was sometime member of the Council of the Nigeria Bar Association Section on Business Law and enjoys reading traveling and being with his family. Femi was appointed to the board of Cocoon Atlantic Limited in December 2016.
Farouk Imam has been an Executive Director of Monument since 2004, overseeing some of its principal investments as well as taking overall responsibility for the group’s Real Estate development ventures.
Farouk started off his career in oil and gas exploration and production with Canadian Petroleum (Nexen Inc.). Farouk Imam has played a key role in the establishment of Cocoon Homes since its inception in 2013.
He holds a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College, London, and a Master’s in Investment Management from the ICMA Center at Henley Business School, Reading
